Widodo is a professor in the Department of Biology at Universitas Brawijaya, Malang, Indonesia. Throughout his career as an academic, Prof. Widodo has served as the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Brawijaya from 2020 to 2022 and as the rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Malang, for the 2022-2027 period. Widodo has achieved several accolades, including the Young Investigator Award from the Cell and Tissue Culture Association of Japan in 2007, the Best Original Paper Award from the Nestle Nutrition Council Japan in 2007, the Young Scientist award from Kalbe-Ristek in 2012, and the Outstanding Lecturer award at Universitas Brawijaya in 2015. Prof. Widodo also serves as a reviewer for several renowned publishers such as Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, BMC-biomed net, and Springer, and as an editor for the Journal of Tropical Life Science.
