Colonel (Navy) dr. Anang Mufti Sumarsono, Sp.B(K)Onk., M.Adm.Kes. is a surgical oncologist who currently serves as Head of the Maternal and Child Health Department at RSPAL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya and as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Hang Tuah University Surabaya. He completed his medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University Malang (1996), his general surgery specialization at Airlangga University Surabaya (2009), and his subspecialty in surgical oncology at Brawijaya University (2018). He also holds a Master’s degree in Health Administration from STIA LAN Makassar (2016).
Throughout his military career, dr. Anang has held various strategic positions, including Company Commander of Medical Platoon at the Marine Infantry Battalion, Head of the Clinic at Marine Hospital Gunung Sari Surabaya, and Head of the Marine Corps Health Division in Jakarta. In the medical field, he is active as a surgical oncologist at RSAL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya, focusing on cancer treatment and the development of military healthcare services. He also actively participates in training and scientific symposia, such as the Breast Oncoplasty Workshop, Chemoport Workshop, and National PERABOI Congress, continuously enhancing his clinical and academic competence. His contributions in academics and research are reflected in numerous scientific works, including studies on Galectin-3 expression in thyroid cancer and the effects of a ketogenic diet on metastatic breast cancer patients, published in national and international journals. In addition to his clinical practice, he actively writes and presents scientific papers at prestigious academic forums.
